YUMA ANTIQUE SHOW FOUNTAIN HILLS SHOW - NEW! PHOENIX ANTIQUE MARKET

JANUARY ARIZONA ANTIQUE MARKET

RARE WELLER FLEMISH JARDINIERE AND ZONA HAND PAINTED POTTERY FROM THE HEART OF AMERICA MID-OHIO WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED IN UPCOMING ARIZONA ANTIQUE MARKET IN JANUARY.

Weller is famous for his many lines such as Flemish, Zona, Aurelian, Eocean, Etna, Modeled Matte, Art Nouveau Blue Drapery, Louella, Glendale, Knifewood, and Warwick, as well as many others.

His initial productions included the making of jars, jugs, tiles and other utility pottery. With the success of using the sought-after high-quality clays, Weller moved his production to Zanesville, Ohio and began introducing a variety of flowerpots, cuspidors, tableware, hanging baskets, and umbrella stands. By 1905, more than five hundred workers were employed in Weller's plant. These workers produced three boxcars full of pottery every day and made Weller the largest manufacturer of pottery in the world by the 1910s.

During the late 1800s, most art pottery was hand painted. Many manufacturers ended this practice before World War I and preferred to use faster machines. However, Weller continued to use hand painting until the 1930s. Due to the Great Depression, Weller Pottery ended production in 1948.

Two of his rare pieces will be showcased at the upcoming Arizona Antique Market in January. A Weller Flemish Jardinière & Pedestal Raised Apple and a Weller Zona Umbrella Stand with Maidens.

One longtime serious collector that has attended the shows for years noted that he has only seen three of the umbrella stands in his lifetime. One he owns, one many years ago, and the one that will be on display.

Additionally you can find quality antiques spanning from the early 1700's to the turn-of-the-century and into modernism, while including the Retro period at The Scottsdale Arizona Antique Market
