Carefree Arizona Antique Show

Featured at the show presented by Lily Bear Antiques of Pinetop, Arizona will be a Suite of French Furniture once owned by Jacqueline Kennedy Bouvier.

This suite of French antique furniture was an engagement gift to Jacqueline Bouvier when at the time she was living in an apartment in Washington DC and working as a photographer for The Washington Times- Herald. After calling off her engagement to John Husted, she decided to sell these three pieces.

In the 1950's it was not polite for a young lady to dine be herself in a restaurant. Ladies were " pooled" by the maitre d' and seated once another "suitable" lady entered the restaurant. Just by chance, Lillian Derzavitz, who was moving to the area and had been shopping for antiques that day, was seated with a beautiful young brunette.

That brunette was Jacueline Bouvier who just happened to be selling a beautiful Suite of French Furniture for $500. Bouvier typed a receipt on the back of an old English check she found in the desk.

It wasn't until 1961 that Derzavitz discovered that the pieces she bought were from America's First Lady, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. To see this set and more wonderful antiques, visit the Distinction of Carefree Antique Show!
